Message the car leaving the engine/transmission/cross member (an attachments) on the ground on a dolly. The ensures no contact or damage to any part of the car whatsoever. If no lift is available to do it this way, I always remove the transmission (what is the big deal?) in order to have a smaller package to lift that does not require the car be sitting high so the long package has to be tilted to fit though the opening. I have seen people do it like that but they often end up banging the tunnel, firewall, shock towers and radiator support.
